This is a pretty interesting beer carrier. It just goes to show that they don't have to all follow the same format as this one shows. This one to me looks a little low at the sides and I would be a bit worried about the beers falling out and smashing if I moved too quickly, but that's just me. The jagged edges of the box suit the design direction that the product seems to be taking with the rough, hand drawn type. It's pretty coherent.

Beer Multipacks
Looking at a variety of ways to package a four pack of beer. There's lots of different box shapes, some just cover the lids, some have handles etc. My original thought was to create a carrier box with a handle but it seems to be nigh on impossible to find a net for such a thing. The one I did find, there was no way that it could make the shape that it was supposed to do. It just didn't work and I'm not sure how it was ever supposed to. Oh well.

Understory

Designed by Mark Johnson. I really liked this project mainly because of the colour scheme used. The company is a chocolatier so the chosen colours of browns and gold really give the illusion of luxury that chocolate is. The wax seal makes it look even more high end and expensive because a wax seal gives the impression of royalty.
Firewhiskey
These are a few Firewhiskey images that I found on Google images while rummaging about for Butterbeer. The top one is certainly interesting in that way that the label feels pretty appropriate for the universe that it's set in. I would never put whiskey in a bottle that shape however, it looks more like a brandy decanter than anything else.I quite like the bottom one, it looks pretty high quality and the colour scheme works well. The idea of the inside of the bottle being as stormy as it looks. The logo is interesting without going over the top. Over all, I do like it.
Butterbeer - DeviantART search

I never really thought to have a look through DeviantART to see other Butterbeer packaging that had been created.
The top image is the actual Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice that they sell at Harry Potter World. I think I've already covered the Butterbeer branding but what is going on with that bottle of Pumpkin Juice? What is with the giant plastic pumpkin sitting on the top of the bottle? That just looks ridiculous.
The final three images are images that I found on DeviantART and I'm not sure why somebody thought that Butterbeer should have a 60s feel to it. Do the wizards walk around in flares? No.
The final image isn't absolutely terrible, it has that olde worlde feel without looking absolutely ridiculous. It looks pretty well thought out and I quite like the shape of the bottle label. It has a parchmenty feel about it too.

BierBank

Found here. I really like the concept for this design and it's nice to see it being applied across a range of media past just the bottle, seeing it on glasses and coasters which is what I'm going to be looking into during the designing of my Butterbeer brand.
Vintage Coke
Vintage Coca Cola packaging! I love to see the difference between then and now. Coke don't even make these card carriers now as far as I know. I haven't seen any. I don't think there's even anything on the bottle, the design is probably only on the lid alone.

New work from Stranger and Stranger:"It was an open brief for a San Francisco based craft brewery brand. We’ve always loved the iconic cable cars and the old ticketing imagery has lovely details and muted colors that work really well with the craft aspect of the product."
I really like this design, the old cable cars are something that were popular in SF in the past so it's nice to see that they have considered the setting of the brewery while designing for the product.
Eco Coke Bottle

'Andrew Seunghyun Kim’s new concept for Coke bottles aims to transform the structure of the product to cubic bottled drinks, allowing a significant gain in storage space and efficiency for recycling. The cap is 25% slimmer than the current 20oz bottle, and 27% more efficient because of its drastically reduced footprint. The bottle is made of 100% sugar cane byproducts, and it collapses 66% smaller than its original size.'
I absolutely love this, it's a shame that it's only a concept so far. The benefits listed in the design boards make so much sense and I think the square format bottle is very visually pleasing. I like it a lot. Every aspect of the design has been considered.
Sweden's first plastic vodka bottle!

Designed by Mattias Brodén.This si the first spirits bottle that I've ever seen made out of plastic to be fair. It was made as such for minimum environmental impact with a PET bottle. I love the illustrations all over the bottle, it certainly makes it look more interesting and I'm assuming that it's a sticker? Either way, very intriguing and it would certainly stand out on the shelf.
The Blonde Bombshell
Designed by Hook. This is a wine bottle and not a beer bottle but it still counts. I think this is one of the most interesting and different wine labels that I've seen so far in my life. I really don't like wine but I would probably buy this just so that I could keep the bottle. It would really stand out on a shelf of wine bottles and just looks so much more intriguing.
Babees Honey

I think that this piece of design kind of applies to several of the briefs that I'm working on so I thought I'd stick it up. I love this piece of design, designed by Ah&Oh Studio, it's so simple but I really like it. The hand drawn type is very whimsical, as is the colour scheme. The black bands on the jars represent the bee without there even needing to be a bee reference. I don't even like honey but I want it. It looks quite expensive and high quality. I also like the lack of information printed on the jar to keep it minimal.

Bottlecaps galore!

I stumbled upon this bottle cap collection on Flickr and it really made me realise that when doing bottle design, you really have to consider the cap of the bottle as well. It could be the finishing touch that makes it that little bit more...wow. or something.
This collection is full of both vintage and modern bottle caps and it's really interesting to see them all. I wish I had a cool collection like this.
You can actually get a fair amount of stuff on such a tiny bottle cap.
Vintage Beer Bottles
I stumbled over this set of vintage beer bottles and cans on Flickr and just had to add them to my context blog. The Wizarding World is pretty old fashioned in general so I figured I'd best look at some vintage beer labels and such to see how it was done back then. I wish beer labels still looked like this now, I think these look absolutely awesome. I picked out a range of my favourite ones to be shown on here.
I really like that the text on a lot of them is angled from bottom left to top right and puts the type on a slant, it definitely seems to be a theme running through them. I don't know if it was the done thing back then, but I really like it.
I also love the wide range of type from bold sans serif to gorgeous flowing script. The designs in general range from really simplistic and bold to very extravagant and indulgent looking.

This one is, yes, a little bit racist but that's how it was back then.
